National Scout Jamboree Bus Trip

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

We just received word about the new Jamboree visitor policies – including a whopping $10 Jamboree admission charge.  PLEASE NOTE:  Your registration through Pack 883 will include this admission charge – we will not raise the price of the trip to accommodate this “surprise” registration fee.

The registration deadline (June 1) is fast approaching.  If you are planning to go, please send your registration as soon as possible.

Given the complexity of having to pre-pay the admission charge to the Jamboree via snail mail, early registration will guarantee you a spot on our buses and a ticket to the Jamboree.  Please register before the June 1 deadline.

Not sure what a Jamboree is?

Check out these videos with your son:  http://www.bsajamboree.org/Jamboree/Videos.aspx

Bottom line:  you and your son will meet people from across the US and around the world, see Scouting at its finest, and have FUN!

The annual Pack Picnic will be held on Friday, May 21 at 6:00 PM in the picnic area at St. Joseph Catholic Community (rain location is inside the gym).

The picnic menu will include: grilled chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, picnic sides, drinks, and desserts. There is no cost for this picnic – the Pack is providing all of the food.

In order to make sure we have enough food, families must RSVP for the picnic no later than Friday, May 14. Please use this link to RSVP – please do not email your RSVP: http://bsapack883.com/rsvp/ (Choose the May Pack Meeting from the pull down menu.)

Final Pack Meeting

The Picnic will be followed by our last Pack Meeting of the Cub Scout Year, our bridging ceremony, and a special Wood Badge ceremony. The Pack Meeting will begin at 7:00 PM.

PLEASE NOTE: The June Pack Meeting scheduled for Friday, June 4 has been cancelled.

The attached article was in Reader’s Digest this month. Many boys will grow up to outstanding citizens, husbands, fathers, and role models – with our without Scouting. However, some young men will become outstanding citizens, husbands, fathers, and role models because of their involvement in the Scouting program. Here is one of those stories…

It shows why so many leaders devote so much time to the Scouting program – for the boys.
