Scout Sunday (or Scout Sabbath)
Thursday, January 21st, 2010
To celebrate the anniversary of the founding of Scouting in America, the Boy Scouts of America asks its members to attend their place of worship in uniform at a religious service in February. This is commonly known as Scout Sunday (or Scout Sabbath).
St. Joseph Catholic Community will celebrate a special Scout Sunday Mass on Sunday, February 7 at the 6:00 PM Mass. Please plan to attend (in your uniform) with your family.
If you are interested in participating in the Mass (altar servers, lectors, cantors, Eucharistic ministers, etc.) to highlight your connection to Scouting, please email Tess Carroll at dtcarroll@verizon.net.
For those who are not Catholic or who are not members of St. Joseph Catholic Community, BSA encourages you to wear your uniform to your religious service on the weekend of February 7. (Check with your place of worship to see if they have planned a special Scout Sunday/Scout Sabbath service.)

Blue & Gold Banquet 2010 – Celebrating Scouting’s 100th Anniversary
Sunday, February 21 at 2:30 PM
St. Joseph Catholic Community
This year’s Blue & Gold Banquet can’t be missed! We will start off with birthday games and activities with one goal in mind – FUN for Cub Scouts and their siblings. Then, we will sit down as a Pack to enjoy a traditional Blue & Gold Banquet – fine food and fellowship with our Scouting friends. Finally, we will cheer for our fellow Cub Scouts as many of the boys in the Pack earn advancements. This is traditionally the meeting in which many of the boys earn their badge of rank advancements.
This is a great event for grandparents and other members of your extended families to attend!

100th Anniversary of Scouting
Wednesday, January 6th, 2010
Unless you are living in a cave or under a rock, you have probably heard that 2010 marks the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. So much has happened since February 8, 1910, and Scouting magazine put together the attached document to highlight the most important people and milestones that make up the history of the BSA.
Scouting Magazine – 100th Anniversary – January 2010
I thought you and your family might find this enjoyable reading.
Yours in Scouting,
